Lush green grass sprawled across the land in front of Cecelia. Trees darting up here and there. Towering oaks with tons of jutting branches, and smaller, more dainty newly planted trees. The sky, blue. A few cotton clouds drifting away, nothing to block the sun from raining down on the earth, giving everything an angelic glow. Cecelia felt almost too hot, thankful she had decided to wear her only pair of shorts after all. A switch up of her usual jeans-sweater/t-shirt combo. Yes, she would be sure to find that perfect view to paint here. Somewhere.
The smell of freshly cut grass filled her lungs, and Celeia breathed deeply to welcome it. She continued to meander her way around the lawn. She hiked up the art suppliy bag on her shoulder. With all that was in it, it was starting to get heavy. How far it went, she did not know. With the school behind her, she felt like she was somewhere else. Just her in a deserted, peaceful world. She would get back to civilization soon enough, just as soon as she got her perfect painting. Even just a picture in her mind would be enough to take away, so she could remember back and paint it in her dorm... No, that would not do. She could not recreate the way the sun played off of everything it touched. Each grass blade stood out, the leaves looked translucent. Today was a truly magical day. She could not be able to create this in her mind again, no matter how hard she tried. Whatever she was going to paint would have to be found and finished today.
Butterflies fluttered by lazily. Not a care in the world. Should she paint a butterfly? Their vast array of colours looked pleasing, and Cecelia found herself looking forward to the challenge. But no, she could paint them some other time. Something told her to keep going, to keep searching for the thing she felt she was meant to paint. The more she walked, the more determined she became. It was here somewhere. The perfect image to transfer onto her easel, to make her own and interpret how she pleased. There were no rules when it came to creating your own thing. No set instructions you must follow. You make it look however you want to. Abstract, real, its up to you. Thats what Celia loved about painting. Creating her own masterpiece, something that was all hers, nobody elses. She didn't feel guilty for keeping it to herself at all.
Here. She found it! An amazing view consumed her vision. Two humongous oak trees stood menacingly tall, their bark a dark gray colour, sea foam green moss lightly brushed about on their branches. Their branches dipped this way and that, bent horribly crooked throughout. Under the large trees lived a considerably smaller tree, planted perhaps just a few years ago. No moss lingered on its branches. Grass lay softly under these trees, as if freshly sprinkled. Celia eagerly sat, trying to keep her eyes on the scene while getting her art supplies out. Making sure it wouldn't disappear as soon as she turned her gaze. She felt around inside of the bag. The inside was warm, heated from the sun no doubt. Cecelia didn't exactly know what she was going to paint when she started out that morning, so she took a bit of every colour. A lot of green, guessing that whatever the scene, it would include some of the grass that covered the land. Dark green, light green, she would need it all. What she wouldn't need was the bright red she also packed, nor the purple. Blue for the sky. And perhaps yellow and orange for wild flowers.
Cecelia finally picked up her easel and began. Stretching the paintbrush across the paper. This was what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Create beautiful things.
